Palm Springs Widow

It happens every year at this time. A group of men take the long trek to the dry desolation that is, Palm Springs. For 10 years now they've been doing this. Leaving their women folk behind to watch celebrities and Pros play golf at The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Oh, don't worry these are real men; they play a few rounds themselves, although my sweetie doesn't play, but I assume since he owns a car dealership he becomes the designated driver of the cart for a bunch of sober men. Speaking of which...

(Say hi to Alice Boys!)

And do they know how to relax. ! They call it Euca! ( short for Eucalyptus) I'm afraid I don't know ALL the details and really, it's probaby better that I don't, but I believe there's a steam room involved, yummy smelling soaps, shampoo's and shaving things, with fresh apples for the taking. But if you break wind or bleed in the steam room, men with bio hazard gear may kick you out! You know who you are.

They've take two new guys; son and son- in- law of one of the original members, this year. I'm sure there will be some odd initiation that involves too much food or being stuck in one of the rooms at night with all the loud snorers. (is that a word?)

I was there once. Broke into the inner sanctum, (yes, I said SANCTUM) just for half a day on my way to a funeral. This is definitely not a trip for the women. I don't know what they'd do if we all showed up! So after checkin' things out I took my cute red rental car and headed for my families place where I knew I'd be wanted.

Anyway, I think this is good for our relationship; my sweetie and I. This 4 or 5 day trip gives me a good reason to put little surpises in Mike's suitcase (remember hon, only for you!) It gives us a reason to miss each other, and it's a good reminder to Mike after sharing a bed with his buddy Don, that I'm a lot more fun to spoon than Mike thought. :)

Have fun guys and bring my baby back soon!

Man that's cool! Not the greatest hair though. And the least she could have done was smile.

A little light reading

I decided it was time to turn off the TV and have Morgan read to me. She watches to much Baby TV ie; Disney channel. So she read August Explains (Phil Ressner) and I read Cinderella Skeleton (Robert D. San Souci) if you'd like to find them at the library. August explains is a cute story about Ted; a little boy bear that is bored of being a bear and has decided he want to be a little boy. August the adult bear tells him about all the hard things little boys and girls have to do. Cinderella Skeleton is a little macabre. It's in really broken poem form but I love telling the story in a dramatic way.

It's amazing though, to just sit and listen to my baby read. It's awsome. I could have done without the bad cheese smell on her feet...

My Kind of Hot Date

Tonight Mike and I went to The Home Decorating and Remodeling Show. Why do we spend $6.75 a piece on these stupid shows??? Half the place is selling disco hot tubs and the other half is selling stuff that has NOTHING to do with decorating OR remodeling. "NO, I don't want another bucket of Qwik and Brite, thank you." and I don't know that a Cookie Lee bracelet will do much for my livingroom.

After that we went to Media Play, which is going out of business. That place was a sad state of affairs. What a waste of a cool store. I don't know what someone's thinking; closing that place down.

Walmart was the next stop. This Walmart has the BEST greeters. These two men almost sing their welcome to you. there's nothing more romantic then measuring your husbands shoelace in the tool section (to make sure we don't buy the same size lace cause it's TO LONG) then going back to the shoe to find the right laces. THEN as we leave my least favorite dump of a store, the greeter asks if we found what we needed, I say yes and he sings out, "ANOTHER SATICFIED CUSTOMER!" Holy Crap, is this guy on speed??

We made our way home and found ourselves playing with the dog and watching the fish. I forget sometimes how relaxing it is to just sit in the dark and watch them. No DVD's necessary, this was a perfect way to end the evening with my Sweetheart.
