As some of you may know, one of my many jobs for the City of Cottonwood Heights is Pet Licensing. The dog breeds I see most are Lab's of all colors, Border Collie's, Mini Schnauzer's, Shih Tzu's, and Poodle's of all sizes. Those are the top 5 for Cottonwood Heights. So when I see a breed name I've never heard of before I look it up.

7th GRADE!!!!! WHY???????? I don't think i'm ready for my baby to be in Junior High School. I shake my head when I think about it. In less then 6 short years we'll...in essence, be done raising children. Is that why I got Mike a dog? For me? Maybe I'm afraid I'll be lonely, with Mike working long hours. Maybe I need someone to talk to, even if it IS a furry creature who tries to talk back. Oh who knows. All I know is I'd better enjoy what's left before I miss any more. I do that sometimes...wish moments...things...away.

Tuesday afternoon Mike, Morgan and I loaded Nate up and headed for Cedar City to start school at Southern Utah University, to drop him off to begin his new life…Cut the “umbilical cord” if you will. But I need to back up just bit…
…back to the last few weeks where Nate and Mike have been spending a gazillion hours working on the CRX, trying to get it done so that he would have his new baby ready to drive around town.
Transportation…Cool.Red.Black…Transportation.
I truly didn’t see these guys for WEEKS!!! They’d come home from work anytime between 2 and 5 am every morning, after working all night, then I’d get up and go to work. Hi and goodbye.
They didn’t get the CRX done…not enough to feel safe taking it. So it’s in Grandpa and Grandma Hanson’s garage for the next 5 months.
So Nate figured he’d take the Yellow Prelude. The clutch went out on it…Tuesday…the day we were leaving.
SO
What did Nate drive to Cedar City? His Honda Accord he was going to fix up and sell.
So here we go. After all that, we’re in a minivan and Nate’s in the Accord and we stop to get gas. His radio stops working! He gets it going again by hitting it.
We get on the freeway and think he’s right behind us and he’s not. We keep drive…he never catches up! 30 minutes later we call him and he tells use where he is and that his fender just shredded off his car. He didn’t screw SOMETHING down tight enough. (I should be crying at this point)
So everything’s fine, we pass Nephi and nate has caught up with us so we stop in Fillmore and eat and let the puppy out. No more mishaps everything’s fine the rest of the way there. Life seems to be good. Finally.
We get to the apartment and start unloading. It takes 15 minutes and we’re done and he’s ready for us to be gone. We said our goodbyes and wished him luck. He didn’t want to go shopping (He said he had enough food) So we left and went shopping for him anyway and surprised him with it an hour later! Whatever…Marshmallow Maties???? He loved it!
Today (Wednesday) I get a call from Nate looking for my Step Brothers phone # (Nate will be working at Aaron’s dealership while he’s out there.) I ask him how it was going,
…and this is how it’s going.
“Well…My room mate is gay. (Silence) He smokes, so he stinks, and he uses the F word in every sentence! It’s like he can’t form one sentence without using the word!”
Really??? Is this really happening to my sweet, tolerant, easygoing son??? FOR REAL???? Gay isn’t his big problem with the guy, it’s the foul language; it’s just so offensive.
I’m sorry; did you think that was it for this story? NO!
Nate called me tonight to get the Sprint password. Why? Because, the screen on his cell phone went white. No picture no nothing, Can’t use the PHONE!
BUT…the boy was smart enough to bring his old phone so he had the Sprint guy switch the service back to the old phone till he can get to a Sprint store and fix or replace the new phone.
I’m Tired. I can only imagine how tired Nate must be. What’s the deal?
I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come…
