Just something I noticed

I was down in the basement just now folding laundry when I looked up through the window and saw a little boy sitting on my front porch. I don't know who he was, but he was there, sitting... and looking at my pumpkins. I was intrigued; I had to see what his plan was, sitting on a strangers front porch.

So I quietly climbed the stairs to the family room, wishing that my camera hadn't been left in the trunk of the car,

and I watched...
...just out of his sight, like you might if you were watching a cute little squirrel in the mountains playing on a rock. He stood up and wandered over to the bails of straw with black "birds" all over them and petted a crow, as he looked around.
Then, he went back over to the porch and beat on each and ever pumpkin and gourd he saw.
In the other corner of the yard was my very favorite witch, a few cats and a scarecrow and he weaved his way through that.
I could see that he was just about done...he had touched, and pounded, and petted till there was nothing more to do.

And as he walked away he did a little boy dance; wiggling across the lawn, off to where ever he came from...and I smiled...and giggled a little,

Because...

That's why I do this Halloween thing every year; it's whimsy, it's art, it's fun, And it's moments like this that make me feel like I've done something good to make some one's day a little more fun!

Your decorations look amazing, as usual! We'll have to do a drive-by this year, even if it is a little out of our way!

That is the cutest story! It just made my day--to think about what was going through his little mind!

Oh, yes, I know exactly what you mean, seeing someone else's happiness in quiet moments because we shared part of ourselves is the sweetest, deepest reward. Your gifts of creative whimsy invite people to enjoy and relax. You rock!!!
