Somewhere around the end of September, beginning of October the toilet over flowed twice in one week. So Mike was going to spend his day off that Thursday tearing out the old nasty carpet and putting in tile. (which is why you see all our personal bathroom stuff lining the wall of the bedroom.) While he was tiling he kept smelling smoke but couldn't figure out where it was coming from. A while later the ceiling light in our bedroom exploded all over the bed!

He pulled the rest of the fixture out of the ceiling and noticed that the 2x6's the fixture was attached to were smoldering and as soon as the air hit the smoldering wood, it caught fire! So, he frantically looked for a spray bottle and was able to get the flames out. He then proceeded to cut a hole in our ceiling two feet wide and 4 feet long. Then he cut out all the burnt wood and pulled out the brand new insulation we just had blown into the attic.

It's been 2 months of living in our sons’ empty room while we (mostly he) found time to work on the room.

The smoke smell is finally gone and we now have a beautiful new bedroom...
